Caregiver charged with embezzlement, murder of Detroit man, 79

A caregiver was charged today with murder, elder abuse, embezzlement and identity theft in connection with the death of his 79-year-old client in Detroit.Wayne County Prosecutor’s office charged Gerald Nash, 67, with killing William Houston, 79, in August at the Riverfront Apartments in Detroit.Nash was scheduled to be arraigned on the charges this afternoon.

A 21-year-old Springfield Township man was critically injured this morning when he was struck by a semi truck in what police say may have been a suicide attempt.Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the man — whose name was not released — jumped from the shoulder into the path of the truck in the area of Dixie Highway and Norman Road at 10:39 a.m.
